Institutionalizing competitiveness by shifting into collaborative model for economic development
Dubai Competitiveness Center, DCC the operational arm of the Dubai Economic Council, has been created with the vision to enhance Dubai's global competitiveness and create sustainable development. It aims to align Dubai's laws, regulations and policies to the best practices in the world for promoting innovation, technology development and entrepreneurship. In doing so, it also aims to rapidly re-position Dubai into more resilient position to a constant "great disruptive innovation wave" in the world by enhancing the focus on innovation and R&D.

• Competitiveness Strategy
  The core of Dubai's Competitiveness Strategy promoted by DCC is for firms and sectors to:

  • Move up the global value chains
  • Enhance productivity, skills and R&D in Dubai

• Setting stage for policies, regulations & standards
  
  • Provide with research and expertise for enhancing the overall macroeconomic and microeconomic foundations for competitiveness
  • Measure current state of competitiveness in Dubai by using various internationally known methodologies and frameworks
  • Formulate draft policies' and regulations' proposals to increase the role of innovation and R&D in the economic and social development process in Dubai
• Cluster development and public private partnership
  
  • Establish Cluster platforms/cluster working groups and play the role of a facilitator for enhancing the Dubai Clusters that have a national and international growth
  • Work/align together with cluster stakeholders as a facilitator for public and private dialogue for continuous improvement of links within the cluster and across boundaries
  • Promote, through policy recommendations and partnership with stakeholders, the enhancement of the innovation, R&D and technological readiness components within each cluster
• Partnership with International Institutions
  
  • Partner with International Organizations and Institutions working on competitiveness and economic development issues
  • Prepare joint research and policy recommendation work, organize local and international events on competitiveness
