Dubai Economic Policy Research Institute (DEPRI)
Established in 2008, the Dubai Economic Policy Research Institute (DEPRI) is one of the initiatives of the Dubai Economic Council's Secretariat General, and is one of its operational arms.
Aims
- Establish an independent, government sponsored, specialised body dedicated to "Economic Policy Research", which covers various aspects of the economy (e.g., economic, socio-economic, & political)
- Deal with the increasing complexity of Dubai's economy, its main concerns, the impact of international developments on Dubai and proactively scrutinizes possible future trajectories in a systematic and integrated manner
- Provide an opportunity to pursue applied analytical research that would be of immediate relevance to policy makers and which is sensitive to their concerns.
- Form strong partnerships with relevant local institutions and reputable international research entities.
Mandates
- Undertake world-class economic, socio-economic and geo-political policy research and analysis that meets international standards in order to guide and support high-level policy making in Dubai
- Contribute to the development of the Dubai economy by primarily engaging in research into issues concerning the major economic problems facing the economy of Dubai over the next ten years or so
