DEC held ‘Emirates Foundation Majlis’

Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Emirates Foundation, has stressed the importance of social investment in youth.

Shaikh Abdullah said that more companies and national institutions must be encouraged to provide opportunities for Emirati youths so they can develop their capabilities and experience and fully participate in building the future of the UAE.

Shaikh Abdullah made the statement during an Emirates Foundation Majlis that he hosted in cooperation with the Dubai Economic Council (DEC) at Conrad Dubai.

The Majlis was attended by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, Juma Al Majid, Chairman of DEC, and other Shaikhs and senior officials.

Shaikh Abdullah urged private sector companies to play an effective role in supporting the government’s efforts in youth development. He also stressed the importance of investing in social responsibility activities so that the financial support reflects in record performances instead of satisfactory results.

Shaikh Abdullah said that building and bolstering the UAE’s economic and social development programmes requires the cooperation of all sectors, emphasizing that no single sector can achieve this on its own.
Shaikh Ahmad praised the vital role played by the Emirates Foundation in building a generation of educated youth who can contribute to the UAE’s march of economic development.

H.E. Juma Al Majed, DEC Chairman said that enabling youth so that they can contribute to the development process is a key focus in the UAE’s agenda for sustainable development.

H.E. Hani Al Hamli, DEC Secretary-General delivered the DEC welcome note, stressing on the importance role of Emirates Foundation in enabling the young Emiraties to engage in development process. Mr. Al Hamli calls for the social responsibility of national businesses to help graduates working in enhanced and attractive business environment.
  
On the sidelines of the gathering, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Emirates Foundation and DEC. The agreement aims to enhance joint cooperation between the two parties, contributing to achieving the foundation’s vision in the field of social responsibility and its work in supporting Emirati youth, and empowering them so they can effectively contribute to building the UAE’s future.
