Expotrade Middle East, in partnership with Dubai Economic Council have organized of the 3rd Annual Arab Future Cities Summit Dubai 2016 held on 8-9 November 2016 at Palazzo Versace, Dubai under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline & Group, President Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman Dubai Airports
Bringing together over 400 senior government officials, tech experts, innovators, urban planners and consultants, the summit discussed the progress and development of smart city initiatives and highlight solutions to overcome the challenges. H.E. Eng. Hassan Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary, Works, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, and H.E. Hani Rashid Al Hamli, Secretary General, Dubai Economic Council (DEC) will inaugurate the summit in the presence of other VIP dignitaries.
In his welcome note, H.E. Hani Al Hamli, Secretary-General at Dubai Economic Council said, “The Summit comes in the right time, where Dubai has already advocated a clear vision for the future and crafted plans and strategies to turn the emirate to be innovative, smart, livable and sustainable city”.
“H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has lunched several initiatives over the last few years just to realize its dreams, most importantly "Smart City" initiative linking the emirate’s government services and the public through the use of smart devices accessed freely using high-speed wireless internet connections”, Al Hamli said.
Al Hamli also said that Dubai races against the time to that end. “However, working towards transforming Dubai into a smart city has become a necessity dictated by the huge achievements made in the past”, he stressed.
“We are delighted to have such an interactive platform that brings together decision makers, experts, and thinkers to share knowledge and experiences to discuss the ways that make Dubai and other Arab cities future cities”, Al Hamli concluded.
